CBT therapy for adults with anxiety in New York, NY
Maybe you're not sleeping well, or struggle to focus, or feel like there's never enough time, money, or joy.
Maybe you're juggling work, family stress, parenting, or caring for a parent, and it feels like there's always something else you need to do.
If you're looking for online CBT therapy for anxiety in New York, NY, I offer a warm, supportive space where you can feel seen, heard, and understood.
Together, we'll explore how anxiety shows up in your everyday life and find ways to help you manage it without putting so much pressure on yourself
How Anxiety Affects Everyday Life
Anxiety can creep up on you because in the beginning it can look like stress, such as work deadlines, family responsibilities and things like that. But anxiety and stress are vastly different. Stress is temporary pressure that you can recover from.
Anxiety is a state where the nervous system becomes used to being on high alert, and even when you want to wind down, you can't. That's why you can't sleep, wrestle with unwanted thoughts or worries and feel the need to stay busy.
For some folks, anxiety can be connected to earlier experiences or complex trauma. You put pressure on yourself to do it all, show up perfectly, and meet impossibly high expectations. And even when you're exhausted, saying no feels harder than just pushing through.
This behavior could mean that you've learned early on that keeping everyone happy and staying one step ahead helped you feel safe.
But over time, this behavior has turned into constantly doing, fixing, and taking care of everyone else, while neglecting your own needs.
How Does CBT Therapy Work for Anxiety?

What makes CBT useful for anxiety is that it focuses on the cycles that can keep anxiety going. It explores how the mind, emotions and behaviors work together.
For example, you worry something will go wrong → avoid the situation to feel better → experience temporary relief (without having resolved anything).
That relief then reinforces your avoidance, making everything feel more stressful next time.
CBT helps you recognize these cycles and practice responding differently. Depending on the type of anxiety, we may examine your anxious thoughts and triggers. We gradually face your common stressors so you can learn to tolerate uncertainty. But it may also look like setting boundaries and asking for support.
What to Expect From Online CBT Therapy for Anxiety
I offer online therapy to adults struggling with anxiety. If you live in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut, I invite you to book an online consultation.
During our first call, you can share what brings you to therapy and what you'd like to work on. You can also ask me any questions about how I approach therapy and get a sense of what it might be like working with me. If you choose to start treatment, we’ll talk about how often to meet and what steps to take next.
My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are. This means you don't need to apologize for sharing tough experiences or for cursing - if that's how you express yourself. You are allowed to be yourself without any need to perform for me.
I look forward to meeting you!

So Why CBT Rather Than Emdr for Anxiety?
CBT is an effective method for treating anxiety. It targets the thoughts and behaviors that keep anxiety going. It is particularly helpful for generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks.
EMDR, on the other hand, is more commonly used to treat PTSD and complex trauma. It focuses on helping you process painful memories.
As a licensed therapist specializing in both CBT and EMDR, I tailor treatment to my clients' needs. Whether your anxiety is connected to early childhood trauma, PTSD or an anxiety disorder, I will adapt treatment to your symptoms, history, and needs.
